How to ride an e-bike safely and quickly downhill

In fact, cyclists see the downhill pavement as a reward, a pleasure and a relief. At the same time, a safe and fast downhill is a treat for every rider and a necessary skill and quality. Next, the author will introduce the basic knowledge of downhill pavement from two directions: safety and speed.
1、stay low,sit back Simply put, when you are going downhill, the lower the center of gravity, the farther back, the better the stability of the downhill. You should be sitting in a steady position on the back of the cushion, holding your hand under the elbow. Bend your elbows inwards rather than outwards, and try to keep your chest parallel to the ground and close to the upper tube so your body doesn’t create a joyride “pocket” on the windward side.

There are several benefits to this: from a safety standpoint, holding the lower hand allows you to have a lower center of gravity, a more stable footwall, and less of a tendency to lurch dangerously in your direction; Holding the lower handlebar position also allows you to move your hand closer to the brake handlebars, increase the force arm, and slow the brakes faster and more directly. Once braking is required, sitting on the back of the seat allows you to come to a quicker stop without turning forward because the front wheels are locked. On the fast side, keeping your body down allows you to have a smaller windward area, a smaller drag, and a faster downhill slope. Studies have shown that, other things being equal, the speed at which the upper and lower handlebars are held can vary by more than 10 per cent.
Race-watchers should be tempted to try and imitate mohorich’s, sagan’s, nibali’s, and other famous downhill riders’ trademark, climbing on the tube. Here I would like to give advice is: do what you can, step by step. Start with a slow, straight slope, then a slightly steeper one, and try to get on the tube while stepping on the pedal to accelerate. This stampede is very dangerous. Don’t try it if you don’t have good control! Caution: don’t place your weight over the handlebars or even in front of the front wheels, which increases the risk of landing on the street. And don’t leave the seat when you turn, which can cause unnecessary damage by rubbing your front wheel against your inner thigh.

2  Slow down ahead of the turn and raise the inside foot
What should you do when you find a bend in the front during the downhill? The correct approach is: ahead of the brake brake deceleration, and toward the turn side of the foot to the tooth disc 12 point direction, into the corner. From a safety point of view, the importance of crossing a corner at the right speed is self-evident. Entering a corner at too fast a speed may cause you to fail to turn and hit the wall or fence on the outside of the corner. It is even more damaging to pinch the brakes while steering into a corner. In fact, most drifting rollover accidents are caused by turning while braking. The reason for raising your inside foot is that when you turn, your body leans towards the inside of the curve, and if your inside foot hits the lowest point, your foot may hit the ground. Keeping your outside foot at the bottom also helps you maintain your center of gravity and prevent you from slipping on the inside side of the curve. From a fast point of view, a smooth turn after a deceleration tends to lose less speed than braking several times after a turn. And a few stampedes immediately after a turn will allow you to make up the lost speed quickly.
3 Take the maximum turning radius When going downhill and turning, it is very important to choose the correct cutting and turning route. The correct overturning line is: take the turning direction as the inside side, close to the outside of the road before entering the corner, close to the inside side of the road after entering the corner, and then come to the outside of the road after passing through the center of the corner to get out of the corner. From a safety point of view, this will make your trajectory a maximum arc, so the Angle of turning the handlebars is minimal, reducing the possibility that you will not be able to turn. From a fast point of view, this allows you to brake at a minimum and maintain an acceptable maximum speed through the corner. Remember: if it’s a two-way lane, don’t cross the yellow line to the opposite lane.

Practice these basic downhill skills to increase your confidence that you can experience the high speed of downhill. At the same time, remind everyone again: do according to your ability, pay attention to safety!
